1 Title: ENTREPRENEURIAL INNOVATION AND SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES DEVELOPMENT IN AN EMERGING ECONOMY (A STUDY CAPITALIZING ON THE EFFECT OF INNOVATION ON SMEs DEVELOPMENT INNIGERIA).pdf
Author: Ojeaga P. I. PhD. Oyedele Ola O. PhD. & Adbulganiyu I. O
Abstract: Abstract In this studySurvey research design was employed for 171 respondents (sample size) from the selected total estimated population of 300 SMEs for the study area and were gathered through the use of structured questionnaire. Their responses were tested using appropriate statistical tools of SPSS package using the ANOVA, the correlation and regression. The study recommended that solving the performance of SME development can be single handedly done by the use of entrepreneurial innovation. Hypothesis shows regression analysis of R2(Square) value = 87.1% (0.871), Adjusted RSquare = 0.854 and the ANOVA table shows the Fcal 77.255 at the P value of < 0.05, R2 measures the percentage of variation in the dependent variable caused by variation in the independent variable. The study therefore recommends that government, individuals and private organizations should invest in education and innovation since entrepreneurship require an intelligent and creative workforce in the creation of new small businesses. 2 Title: EFFECT OF WITHDRAWAL BEHAVIOURS ON ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE A STUDY OF SELECTED PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES IN EDO STATE, NIGERIA.pdf
Author: Joy, Itoya PhD., Owuze, Cletus PhD. & Akhator, Peter PhD.
Abstract: Abstract The study examined the effect of employee withdrawal behaviours on organizational performance, using selected private universities in Edo State, Nigeria as the study area. The relevant literature was reviewed in four distinct sections of conceptual review, theoretical framework, theoretical exposition and empirical review. The design for the study was descriptive survey. Major statistical tools of analysis include summary statistics, Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis through the use of SPSS 23.0 software package. Preliminary results of the analysis showed that with the F-Statistic of 20.494 and P 0.000 < 0.05, the model is statistically significant and therefore fit and valid for predictions. The regression coefficient of 0.529 showed that 52.9 percent relationship exists between the dependent and independent variables. Similarly, the coefficient of determination of 0.408 showed that 40.8 percent variation in the dependent variable can be explained by the independent variables. Major finding showed that three components of withdrawal behaviours identified for the study (i.e.,) absenteeism, lateness and presenteeism, have significant negative effect on organizational performance. The study concludes that most of the employees withdrawal behaviours being experienced in the work environment are direct response to how the employees perceive their work environment and treatment they receive from the management. The study recommended among others that the management should monitor to detect the problems causing employee withdrawal behaviours in their organizations with a view to devising means of preventing or reducing them. The management should also try to improve organization’s work environment. Keywords: Withdrawal Behaviours, Organizational Performance, Private Universities View
3 Title: CAUSAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES FINANCING AND ECONOMIC GROWTH IN NIGERIA.pdf
Author: Andrew O. Agbada, PhD. & Oboreh, Justina, PhD.
Abstract: Abstract The core elements of this research seek to explore empirically the causal relationship between Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) financing and Economic growth in Nigeria. SMEs finances are usually provided by Deposit Money Banks (DMBs). Thus, we utilized DMBs credit facilities namely, Loans to Small and Medium Enterprises (LSMEs) and Loans to other Private Sectors (LPS) as proxies for SMEs financing. These two variables adequately measured the amount of funds obtained by SMEs and are therefore adopted as our independent variables. On the hand, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) served as proxy for Economic growth. Data for DMBs credit facilities were procured from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Statistical Bulletins and analyzed using the Multiple Regression Model (MRM). The research findings indicate that the correlation coefficient between GDP and LPS stood high at 0.902 and that between GDP and LSMEs stood at 0.868, thus displaying positive and near perfect correlation relationship. The graphic illustration of data showed that when the independents variables, namely, LSMEs and LPS increase, there was a corresponding increase in GDP, though GDP increase was more rapid tending to the terminal point of the study period. The empirical results were robust, though one of the variables failed the test of relevance. Generally, the results were healthy and it led us to conclude that a causal relationship exists between SMEs financing and Economic growth in Nigeria. We therefore recommend that policies capable of stimulating needed funds for SMEs should be put in place by economic stake-holders and monetary and regulatory authorities to facilitate the improvement and growth of GDP in Nigeria. 4 Title: DETERMINANTS OF CAPITAL STRUCTURE IN THE NIGERIAN BANKING SECTOR.pdf
Author: Alexander Olawumi Dabor PhD. Sulaiman Oloko Abdul & Soji Solomon Ikuemonisan
Abstract: Abstract Corporations need adequate funds to stay afloat, these funds can be gotten either from money capital market or money market or from both. This study seeks to ascertain the determinants of capital structure. This study beams its search light on the Nigerian baking sector because of its complex nomenclature. This sector has been in the turbulent waters in recent times. The spillover effect of the financial tsunamis that sweep across globe prompted lots of potential investors to withhold their funds rather than investing them. This precarious situation necessitated the need for the reexamination of the constituents of capital structure. This study employs ordinary least square method to analyze data collected from the field. The result shows that firm tangibility has no significant impact on capital structure while profitability has a positive effect on capital structure. Furthermore, the result shows that tax shield has negative effect on capital structure. Finally the result shows that firm size has positive effect on capital. The study recommended that proper regulation guiding long term debt should be introduced into the Nigerian money market and capital markets. 5 Title: ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTIONS AND YOUTH EMPLOYABILITY IN NIGERIA A STUDY OF FRESH GRADUTES EMPLOYABILITY.pdf
Author: Paul I. Ojeaga
Abstract: Abstract The study investigated the determinants of entrepreneurial intentions and fresh graduates’ employability. The study applied correlation and multiple regression approach and establishes empirical support for some premises made in the literatures. Regression Coefficients showed that there was positive relationship between personality traits and entrepreneurial intention. A unit increase in positive personality traits was found to cause about 0.447 unit increase in entrepreneurial intention significant at 1%. Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected; thus, there was positive relationship between personality traits and entrepreneurial intention. Hypothesis three stated that family background does not significantly impact future business potentials. There was a statistically significant relationship between family background and future business potentials. The correlation value of 51.0% was high significant with p-value of 0.000. This implies that family background positively brings about increase in future business potentials. It was concluded from the findings that there was positive entrepreneurial attitude and intention exist to a remarkable degree among Nigerian undergraduates. 8 Title: AN INTERPOLATION OF WEBERS PROTESTANT ETHICS AND WORK LIFE.pdf
Author: John Mark
Abstract: Abstract Using the church as a type of protestant community in Nigeria, it is probably true, the paper claims, that the Webers ethical thesis can work in Nigerias organization-setting. For one, the paper argues that human nature is same all the world over. Adherence to moral need in one region of the world can also be embraced in another social space. The paper then enhances its claim by adopting a quantitative approach where six churches in Nigeria were selected. These include three from the Pentecostals and three others from the orthodox. Among them are the Deeper Life ministries, Winners Chapel and the Redeemed Christian church(Pentecostals). For the orthodox they include; the Methodist, the Anglican and the Catholics. The study further, out of these churches, selected 120 administrative staff,20 from each church. The churches were selected based on proof of internal economic success over the years. The data was analyzed using Z-test of mean and likert scale. In all, the paper intends to find out if Webers protestant ethics contributed to their economic success. Conclusion rendered from the result of the research is that the economic growth or success of of Nigeria is largely tied to the moral life of the people. View
